Graceful Palms Hospice and Palliative Care is in search of volunteers for our patients and families in the Antelope Valley and San Fernando Valley areas. We are looking for people who are ready to make a difference in the life of patients requiring hospice care and their family.  Volunteering doesn’t take advanced medical training, it only takes compassion. No experience is necessary.  We provide FREE training with on-going continuing education and support to enable a smooth and rewarding experience. The duties of a volunteer may include the following: Visits to the patient for social support and companionship Praying with the patient or other spiritual support Reading to the patient Possible light housekeeping May help patient by running errands, shopping Assist patient appointments Provide a break for caregivers allowing them to rest or complete other tasks Assist patient with their correspondence Volunteers have to be at least 18 years old.  Volunteers play a critical role in hospice care and patients and families truly love the difference they make in their lives.  Often there is a very rewarding bond that is developed as our volunteers share their time and touch the lives of our patients and their families.  Aside from patient visits, there are numerous other ways that volunteers can utilize their talents.  These include working in the office, assisting with mailings, making phone calls, occasionally help with other community events pertaining to the hospice.  Volunteering at Graceful Palms Hospice at also provides the opportunity to learn more about hospice care in the health industry.
