What is the Cost of Hospice Care?

Nobody with an end of life or terminal illness is ever turned away because of inability to pay.

After meeting with you and discussing your needs, the intake coordinator at Graceful Palm will verify insurance benefits to determine hospice coverage. If you don’t have insurance, our social workers will work with you and your family to find funding options.

Hospice is an elected benefit of most insurance plans including Medicare, Medi-Cal/Medicare, covers the cost of most clinic staff visits, medications, home equipment and supplies related to terminal illness and the comfort of a patient. Every insurance company is a little different, but many have inclusive plans similar to Medicare.

To be eligible for Medicare Part A coverage, A patient must be certified by their physician and by Graceful Palm Hospice as having medical director With a medical prognosis that the patient’s life expectancy is 6 months or less at normal course of the illness. Additionality, the patient has to elect hospice care indicating their acceptance of palliative care and no more curative care. Payment for the care will generallly be provided by Medicare, Medi-Cal, or private insurance. Other payment options will be discussed with patients on an individual basis.
